Things sound grand down in Mexico

Many films have an exceptional soundtrack. Some songs just communicate with you and stick with you for a long time after the film credits have finished running.

There is usually one song that hits you hardest though; It's the one that makes you cry or sometimes it's the one that hypes you up. Occasionally, it's the song that makes you want to get up and shake your body like there is nobody watching...

After watching Quentin Tarantino's 'Death Proof' last year, I decided the soundtrack was up there amongst my all timers. However, it wasn't until a friend made a mix CD for my car and on comes the slick sound of saxophones and piano that I remembered the higlight of the film musically... 'Down In Mexico' by The Coasters.

For me, it's the musical peak of the film, amplified by the erotic lapdance scenewhich sees Arlene (Vanessa Ferlito) showing Stuntman Mike (Kurt Russell) her best girations as the result of a bet.
Make your own mind up...

Tarantino is a master of film, I dare say one of a small elite of exceptional film makers working on the Hollywood scene at present. Death Proof is just another film to add to the ever growing list of iconic films. 7.5/10
